Its finally here, an exclusive terry nappy to The Flats Company and Pumpkin and Pickle.

The Cotton Waffle Terry!

Handmade in Southeast England by the lovely Catherine, this terry is unlike any other we have seen on the market. It is made from 100% cotton, one side is traditional terry towelling and the other is a honeycombe-esque waffle weave with a lovely rainbow trim. These ‘honeycombs’ draw in moisture wicking it away from baby. The shape of the weave means moisture evaporates more quickly meaning baby feels drier (especially when paired with a wool cover) but also this means that this terry dries even quicker than a normal terry.

This terry is thicker than a traditional cotton terry and makes a perfect night nappy or one for longer naps. We have extensively tested ours and have found it more absorbent (and dry to the touch in the morning) than many fitted nappies and it of course dries in a fraction of the time. When on the bum it is slimmer than most fitted nappies, but we wouldn’t describe it as slim. But we love a chunky terry bum anyway!

Size:

One size fits most- 62cm square plus a snake booster

One size fits most + -70cm square

How to use

Fold into your chosen fold, we like kite and concord fold, add in your snake booster and secure to baby with a nappy fastener and cover with a wrap. We find all fasteners grip this material with ease. Can be used with the waffle facing inwards or outwards, it is up to you!

Top with a fleece or disposable liner to keep baby dry and to simplify the disposal of solids (post weaning).

Remember, you can reuse your wraps 3-4 times by wiping them out with a wet cloth if they do not come in to contact with poo.

How to wash and dry

Strong and study workhorse, I can take a hot wash

Pre-wash once before use on a short gentle wash (30/40 degrees) to fluff up and remove manufacturing residue. Dry naturally.

Once in use, wash at 40-60 degrees. A hardier material than bamboo, these nappies can even take the odd 90 wash with no problems. Do not use fabric conditioner.

Dry naturally if possible. Can tolerate a hot tumble. Can be placed on radiators to speed drying but may make them a little stiff in the long run, to fluff back up rub them against each other (honestly, it works!) or fluff them up in the tumble trier on low.
